Tomogashima Lighthouse

A proud Western-style stone lighthouse built at the beginning of the Meiji era stands tall on Okinoshima Island, located in the center of the uninhabited Tomogashima group in the Kitan Strait. The island is dotted with ruins of artillery batteries that tell of the island's past, which was once a military fort. This lighthouse, designated as a registered tangible cultural property by the country, is a treasure trove of historical significance.
