Hirai Historical Materials Room

In April 2021, the "Hirai Historical Materials Room" opened in the Wakayama City Hirai Fureai Center. The Hirai Historical Materials Room aims to spread the knowledge of the region's rich history to people both inside and outside the city through exhibits about the Hirai ruins, where a clay kiln from the Kofun period, one of the most valuable in Wakayama prefecture, was discovered, and about the Saiga clan who were active during the Sengoku period. In addition to exhibits centered on models of discovered clay kilns made from actual clay kilns, the surface of which was removed and relocated, as well as clay pots and pottery discovered at the Hirai ruins, there is also a ``Haniwa Puzzle Experience Corner'' where you can try your hand at restoring the shape of a Haniwa. Also on display are replicas of the Saiga helmet and matchlock gun, which are said to have been used by the Saiga clan. Please come visit the Hirai Historical Materials Room!
