Wakayama Electric Railway

Wakayama Electric Railway, headquartered in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture, is a railway company that operates the Kishigawa Line and belongs to the Ryobi Group. The Kishigawa Line is a local line that connects Wakayama Station to Kishi Station, and is characterized by its unique trains. In addition to the Ichigo Densha, Toy Densha, and Tama Densha, the Umeboshi Densha has been in operation since June 4, 2016, and the area along the line is lively. The terminal station, Kishi Station, is famous for its cute cat-themed station building, and Station Master Tama became popular. Currently, Station Manager Nitama is working as the successor to Station Manager Tama (public holidays are Wednesdays and Thursdays), and many tourists visit. There are three shrines with deep history scattered along the line: Zenmiya Shrine, Kamayama Shrine, and Itakeso Shrine, where you can get a feel for the local beliefs and culture.
