Guard garden

Bansho no Hana, which juts out into the sea on the Kishu Peninsula, has a scenic garden. This place was once used as a guardhouse for the Kishu clan.
The garden has been selected as one of the 50 scenic spots in Seto Inland Sea National Park, and you can see the beautiful coastline woven by rare Kishu blue stones. There is also a monument with poems included in the Manyoshu, inscribed with poems composed by Lord Fujiwara when Emperor Shomu visited Wakanoura.
This garden is known as a place associated with Manyoshu, and can be visited as part of Wakayama City's "Manyo Tour Course."
